"The Morgenthau Story" - A new documentary film by Apo Torosyan
Artist and filmmaker Apo Torosyan, a second-generation survivor of the Armenian and Greek Genocide,
completed (in May 2008) a new 56-minute documentary -The Morgenthau Story-.
This film is about Ambassador Henry Morgenthau Sr.'s commitment to helping humanity. From 1913 to
1916, he served as U.S. Ambassador in Constantinople (today Istanbul in Turkey).
During the Armenian, Assyrian and Greek Genocides (The Christian Holocaust in Turkey), 1914-1922,
he appealed to the Turkish Ottoman leaders to stop the killings, without success....
In 1923, Ambassador Morgenthau Sr. saved thousands of survivors by successfully leading the Refugee
Relief Committee in Greece...

New York Life Launches Voluntary Program to Reach out to Heirs of Greek Policies from 1914.
New York Life Insurance Company announced an outreach program to locate and compensate heirs of
approximately 1,000 life insurance policies issued to Greeks in the Ottoman Empire prior to 1915. As
part of the Greek Life Insurance Policy Program, New York Life will publish notices in national and
international newspapers about the claims review process so that heirs can submit claims relating to
these policies. The company said it will also contribute $1 million to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of
America, since descendants of many of those displaced from their ancestral homelands are now
members of the Archdiocese. The total value of the
voluntary program is $12-15 million, including

| 2ο ΔΙΕΘΝΕΣ ΣΥΝΕΔΡΙΟ ΠΟΝΤΙΑΚΩΝ ΕΡΕΥΝΩΝ Στο επίκεντρο του Ποντιακού Ελληνισμού, αλλά και της Διεθνούς Επιστημονικής Κοινότητας θα βρεθεί η Δράμα από τις 27 έως και τις 29 Σεπτεμβρίου 2008 με τη διεξαγωγή τού 2ου Επιστημονικού Συνεδρίου Ποντιακών Σπουδών. Στο Συνέδριο που θα γίνει στο Αμφιθέατρο «Προέδρου Κωνσταντίνου Καραμανλή» θα συμμετάσχουν ως εισηγητές καταξιωμένες προσωπικότητες της επιστημονικής κοινότητας από όλο τον κόσμο. Δύο καθηγητές από τη Ρωσία, τρεις από την Αγγλία, τέσσερις από την Αμερική, ένας από την Κύπρο και την Τουρκία και δεκαπέντε Έλληνες θα αναπτύξουν τις εισηγήσεις τους, οι οποίες αναμένεται να εμπλουτίσουν την Ιστορία τού Ποντιακού Ελληνισμού και να φωτίσουν πτυχές τού Ποντιακού ζητήματος. πληροφοριακό υλικό εδώ |
